Marshside - 11 April 2012

A burst of spring sunshine saw me back in Southport at the Marshside RSPB reserve.

The plan was to spend some time watching the Avocets and I did. However, the Black-tailed Godwit were the stars today. They were everywhere on the inner marsh and a magnificent sight in such numbers and approaching full summer plumage. They even outnumbered the Black-headed Gulls (or was that just an optical illusion!) and no doubt there were more out on the salt marsh behind me.

There were a number of Redshank about and also a couple of Oystercatchers.

A good day for just relaxing and enjoying the birds. Well once my ears became accustomed to the constant screaming of the BHG's that is! It's not that I don't like them, I do. They amuse me, they are my squirrel if you like. It's just that they never shut up!

Better sign this one off now because in my head I am starting to make comparisons to PK! Sorry darling x
